1600cc “stock” Zetec SE Sigma engine achieves
144 bhp on ‘bike carbs
  
Chester Sportscars’ JPS liveried J15 Sylva Demonstrator
fitted with new unmodified Ford 16v Sigma engine and Fiesta
gearbox recently made 144 bhp at its’ inaugural Rolling
Road session.
The secret’s in the induction and ignition mapping;
the combination of a swept alloy inlet manifold, Mikuni
38 mm choke carbs and a 3D ignition setup which responds
to engine speed & load, gives a very smooth power curve
, peaking at 6,800 rpm and a big increase in lower & mid
range torque compared to the standard induction system.
With
Ford specifying 99 bhp standard, this increase of 45%
over standard is an excellent result and justifies
Chester Sportscars in adding the SE Engine Tuning kit onto
their range.

January
2011. Bodywork fitted, aligned and JPS Gold livery applied,
seats,
instrumentation, interior trim, wrap-around
aero screen, mirrors, lights, Mikuni ZX6R carbs, wiring loom,
switches and steering wheel all fitted. Jobs remaining – bleed
brakes & adjust clutch, fit head restraints and harness
belts, ECU ignition control, silencer & handbrake, engine
pre-checks then Rolling Road set up, Power run and Road Test.
All on schedule for Race Retro Show, February 25th – 27th

J15 JPS Replica Build Update December 2010
  
Chassis
powder coated satin black, shocks and suspension fitted,
floor & alloy
paneling completed, front Willwood 4 pot calipers & grooved
discs fitted with biased pedals, rear Ford calipers with Fiesta
discs, new Ford SE 1600 cc engine and Fiesta gearbox with bike
carb manifold, fuel tank, pump & sender, stainless
steel exhaust manifold, 14 inch Minilite wheels with Toyo
tyres.
The car is scheduled to be completed, running and on Show
at the Race Retro Show at Stoneleigh at the end of February
2011. Come and see us there. Orders being taken for delivery in
Summer 2011

Announced at the Stafford Kit Car Show September 2010
  
Chester Sportscars, in conjunction with Sylva Autokits have
announced an agreement whereby Chester will offer the Sylva
Riot and Sylva J15 mid engined cars both in Comprehensive
Self Build Kit and Factory Built Turnkey Form.
The successful owner of Sylva Autokits , Jeremy Phillips,
has designed, built and sold car after car which have dominated
the 750 Motor Club results board for the last 2 decades.
With the Riot weighing in at less than 500 kg and the slippery
J15 only a few kilos more, the engine choice of the Yamaha
designed Zetec SE, which can spin up to 8,000 rpm gives the
car excellent performance and makes the engine, gearbox and
transmission installation ( from a Donor Fiesta Mk 4 /5 )
quite straight forward.
The J15 is available
as a Chassis & Body kit for Home
Build from £ 5,200.
A Factory built Rolling Chassis & Body needing only engine & gearbox,
wheels & tyres, lights, wiring, dials & interior

A Factory Built Turnkey car in a choice of body colours & trim

are planning to build their own J15 demonstrator fitted
with SE engine running on ‘bike carbs or ‘bike
Throttle Bodies.
It is anticipated
that the additional coverage in the UK will benefit customers
in the North West and Border Regions
and allow Jeremy to concentrate even more on R & D.

probably best known for their ‘bike

a few miles East to Queensferry on the River Dee.
The move follows
Tiger Racings’ Sale of the Cat XL
and Supercat Project to Southways Automotive Ltd in Fareham,
Hampshire and Chester’s appointment as Northern Sales & Service
Agent for the Supercat, continuing their long term association
with this well known car.
