Chester Sportscars SuperCat "Touring" Collection

The kit car industry currently seems to be saturated with “Budget Blasters”, running screaming, high reving motors, bereft of any creature comforts and often seen only on twisty B roads (or the local race circuit).

Nothing wrong with that, but have we forgotten the individual (and his / her partner) who want to cruise the motorways or venture further afield or abroad in relative comfort ?

There are not many “off-the-peg” kit cars that fall into this category, but Chester Sportscars know how to adapt and modify kits and their experience with the Tiger range and the many custom builds they have completed, has enabled them to introduce the “Supercat Touring Collection”.

The Design Brief for the car was wide reaching; it had to be comfortable, reliable, economical, weather proof, attractive, individual, easily maintained and of course safe.

The Tiger Supercat XL, with its wide body and roomy cockpit, was chosen as the base car and fitted with adjustable seats, a luxury interior, stitched & padded side panels and dash, storage pockets and custom made travel bags, inertia reel seat belts, electronic instruments and CD Tuner, high output heater / demister and interior map reading light.

The Running Gear was also carefully selected and assembled, the long wheel base chassis giving a very smooth ride, independent suspension with coil springs all round, Sierra front & rear hubs, drive shafts and high ratio diff., 5 speed Type 9 gearbox, 17 inch alloy wheels, disc brakes front & rear and finger-light steering through a 3 ½ turns lock to lock rack with all new parts.

The Power House is no less understated. A modern, quiet 16 valve Ford Zetec engine with lightened flywheel, cable operated clutch, economical and smooth Webcon Alpha Gold Performance kit with throttle bodies, fuel injection, short air filters, all neatly fitted under the bonnett, an efficient cooling system with fan assisted radiator and stainless steel exhaust system with swept pipes and touring silencer with heat shield. Engine Size. For the frugal a 1.6 ltr 90 bhp standard motor, through 1.8 ltr 130 bhp up to the 2 ltr with performance upgrade producing 190 bhp, the choice is yours !

Subtle Changes incorporated to give this Tiger true Touring Capability are as follows :-
