For many people, the challenge of building a Venom Sportscar
from a kit of parts is very appealing.
In
addition to the satisfaction and sense of achievement, the
financial savings
are enormous. With care, it is possible to
assemble the car for around £ 8,500
plus Wheels (£1,500) plus Paint
(£2,000) saving nearly half the cost of a Factory Built
Model. However, not everyone
has either the facilities (a clean, dry double garage), the
time (two or three hundred hours of work), nor
the patience and skills, to see the project through to the
end.
Chester Sportscars
has been involved in the Motor Trade for over 10 years and
in October 2005 Venom Sportscars appointed
us UK Build Agent. Since that time we have given advice to many
new builders, based on our 1st hand experience.
As well as building complete cars we have also developed our
own range of kit up-grades and can source good useable donor
parts stripped from a car and refurbished / reconditioned where
requested.
Some customers ask about building a Venom Sportscar using ALL
NEW parts, to obtain a new Registration number but we feel this
could prove very expensive and is virtually impossible since
some mechanical components are now unavailable brand new.
Others want to build
the car using a New Venom Chassis and Body kit, removing all
other parts from the Donor vehicle, in most
cases a 1990’s Ford Granada Scorpio car, and fitting them
to the new kit.
In practice, most people use a mix of New and Used parts :-
With any Safety Related items e.g. brakes, steering , lights,
instrumentation and engine electrical parts we strongly recommend
the use of New or Factory Reconditioned Parts.
On the other hand, items from the Donor which are known to
be strong and reliable e.g. back axle / drive shafts, steering
column / hubs / wheel bearings etc, are often cleaned, checked,
repainted and reused, with a substantial financial saving.
Parts which might
prove difficult to remove after the build is competed e.g.
engine, clutch & gear box, wiring loom,
fuel tank & pump, engine management system are also often
replaced with reconditioned or new items and this overall approach
results in a reliable car which will pass the SVA Test and be
a pleasure to drive.

Please refer to the attached Chassis Kit and Body Kit. This
details the parts included in these kits and represents the minimum
order to start the build of your Venom Sportscar.
We
also strongly recommend the Chester Sportscar Donor Build
Kit, which includes all Donor items except the engine, which
is usually specified and supplied separately.
Many customers will find it more convenient to buy all parts
needed from us rather than visiting scrap yards and motor factors;
as we are constantly building cars and buying components we can
pass on discounted prices for reconditioned components and ensure
a high quality, safe build using matched parts.
To help plan your build, we suggest that you visit us, we are
situated a few miles outside Chester and will be pleased to
see you anytime.
